Grand Canyon, South Rim; Arizona July 27th 2010
Modular Solutions, Ltd was awarded the contract with the National Park Service to construct three duplexes for the Supai Camp. National Park Service used Recovery Act funds to pay for this contract. Roger Geiger with Desert Sky Mobile Home Service, was commissioned by Modular Solutions to install these three duplexes. Because of his presence at the dedication and ability to speak in public he was chosen by Modular Solutions, Ltd to introduce the Vice President. Joe Biden visited the Grand Canyon to oversee the use of ARRA funds.
Vice President Joe Biden and his daughter came to the Grand Canyon for the Camp Supai Dedication.
Biden, standing at Hopi Point, on the South Rim overlooking the 5,000-foot drop to the Colorado River, outlined stimulus-funded projects that include rehabilitating historic trails and structures. $750 million in stimulus money has gone to national park projects that helped create jobs in tough times, he said. | | |
The world is blessed to have reserves of beauty, history and culture like the Grand Canyon, but the national parks have been neglected for too long, he said.
Roger Geiger, a contractor on the project, said the benefit of stimulus funds in this case not only provides work for his employees and income for his family but also preserves a part of the country's rich history with the Havasupai. |
